The previous year has been outstanding for the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines Cordillera Administrative Region Student Chapter (IECEP CAR SC) with the 2023 officers at the helm. Consisting of enthusiastic students studying Electronics Engineering at the University of Baguio, the University of the Cordilleras, and Saint Louis University, the group of officers has planned various events that have made a notable impact on the IECEP CAR students.

During their time in office, the 2023 leaders showed a dedication to promoting both academic and non-academic development in their peers. They planned various activities, such as online webinars bringing expert knowledge to students, and face-to-face seminars to revive the essence of in-person learning and interaction. These activities allowed students to improve their technical abilities, participate in important discussions, and establish connections in the field of electronics engineering.

Additionally, the officers made sure that the chapter’s activities extended beyond academics. They arranged different competitions that promoted creativity, friendship, and a positive competitive attitude among the students. The competitions spanned a wide range, incorporating academic, non-academic, and social competitions to meet the various interests of the students.

The Regional Student Summit was a major achievement of their year. The officers carefully organized this event to choose representatives for the IECEP National Student Summit (IECEP NSS). Taking place on October 27-28, 2023, at the Marikina Convention Center in Marikina City, the national summit was a spectacular occasion where the IECEP CAR SC participants shone brightly.

The delegates from the University of Baguio, specifically, returned with major accolades. They came in 3rd place in the Acoustic Duet Singing Contest, 3rd place in the Folk-modern Fusion Group Dance Competition, and 2nd place in the Digital Arts Competition. These wins not only showcased the skill and commitment of the students but also brought pride to the Cordillera region.

Aside from their achievements in events and competitions, the 2023 officers also started a new initiative that brought a new aspect to the chapter’s activities. The initial batch of official IECEP CAR SC merchandise was effectively launched. The student community embraced this effort with enthusiasm, offering members a concrete opportunity to display their pride and connection to the chapter.

The term of the 2023 officers ended on a positive note with the first-ever Annual General Assembly Meeting of the IECEP CAR SC, which took place on April 20, 2024. The event served as a suitable ending to their year of volunteering. The event incorporated a technical seminar followed by a speech from Engr. Elaine R. Rivera, a Professional Electronics Engineer (PECE) who serves as the Vice Governor for Education at the IECEP CAR Chapter. Engineer Rivera gave a sincere speech, appreciating the commitment and effort of the outgoing officers, and recognizing their impact on the chapter’s development and achievements.

The assembly also marked a new beginning with the induction of a new set of officers. The induction ceremony was led by Engr. Cristina C. Ong, Governor of the IECEP CAR Chapter. She encouraged the incoming officers to continue the legacy of excellence and innovation established by their predecessors.

The 2023 IECEP CAR SC officers have left an indelible mark on the chapter and its members. Through their dedication, innovative initiatives, and successful events, they have significantly contributed to the growth of the electronics engineering student community in the Cordillera region. As they pass the torch to the new officers, their legacy of excellence and commitment to service will undoubtedly inspire future leaders of the chapter.
