The University of Baguio Supreme Student Council (SSC) recently participated in a meaningful initiative that champions sustainability and environmental care. On August 23, 2025, the SSC proudly took part in UB RIECO’s Project Gr.O.O.M. M.E., a greening project that aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Project Gr.O.O.M. M.E.: A Call to Action

The project, themed “CALL FOR PLANTERS (preserving life through action, nurturing trees to engage, restore, and sustain),” aimed to promote sustainability and environmental stewardship among UBians. The SSC’s involvement in the project demonstrates its commitment to creating a greener, healthier future for generations to come.

Planting Seeds of Sustainability

During the event, which took place from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at the basement of the University of Baguio Multilevel Parking near the UB Centennial Building, SSC members planted seedlings and promoted green practices. This hands-on activity not only contributed to the project’s objectives but also raised awareness about the importance of environmental conservation.

Supporting the SDGs

By participating in Project Gr.O.O.M. M.E., the UB SSC supports several SDGs, including:

SDG 4: Quality Education: Promoting sustainability and environmental awareness among students

SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities: Encouraging sustainable practices and community involvement

SDG 13: Climate Action: Taking action to mitigate the effects of climate change

SDG 15: Life on Land: Protecting and preserving biodiversity and ecosystems

A Greener Future for UBians

The UB SSC’s involvement in Project Gr.O.O.M. M.E. is a testament to its commitment to creating a more sustainable and environmentally conscious community. By working together, we can nurture not only plants but also a greener, healthier future for generations of UBians.

The Importance of Environmental Sustainability

Environmental sustainability is crucial for the well-being of our planet and future generations. By promoting green practices and reducing our environmental footprint, we can help mitigate the effects of climate change and protect biodiversity. The UB SSC’s participation in Project Gr.O.O.M. M.E. is a step in the right direction towards creating a more sustainable future.

The UB SSC’s involvement in Project Gr.O.O.M. M.E. is a commendable effort towards promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship. By working together, we can create a greener, healthier future for generations to come. Let us continue to support initiatives that promote environmental sustainability and conservation.
