Last November 20, 2025, the School of Teachers and Liberal Arts (STELA) held a comprehensive Research Writeshop at Room H508, Centennial Building. Organized under the leadership of Ma’am Vilma Deponio, STELA’s Research Anchorperson, with the theme “Write Together, Publish Together: Fostering Joint Research and Publication Effort” the activity gathered the lead researchers from the Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, and Bachelor of Science in Education programs, together with their mentors and advisers.
Representing the BS Psychology department were the five lead research groups mentored by Ma’am Rhoda Carbonel. Leading their respective groups were Jewel Mae, Eubelle, Eirene, Jared, and MJ, who attended the event with dedication to publish their final research papers.
The writeshop aimed to strengthen students’ research competencies, emphasizing the importance of co-authorship with their research advisers as an essential part of the academic publishing process. Participants were reminded that research is more than just a requirement; it is a vital skill that sharpens critical thinking, and enhances academic discipline highlighted by Ma’am Donnavila Marie Panday-Herbster, Research Director of RIECO.
Following the talk, signing of the adviser-advisee compact was done, student researchers and advisers’ roles were written in this compact. Ma’am Vilma also explained the workshop guidelines and provided students with generous time to refine their papers. This session allowed them to consult their advisers and implement final revisions before the required submission at 5:00 PM on the same day. The hands-on approach fostered a supportive environment where students received direct guidance and feedback.
