On June 28, 2024, the University of Baguio Supreme Student Council (UB SSC) in collaboration with Project 360 Inc. successfully spearheaded an off-campus outreach program in Legab, Bakun, Benguet. Aimed towards bringing academic and hygiene support among the children of this distant and steep community around which one needs six hours to drive from Baguio City.

SSC President Jun Maoican, Vice President Nathaniel Vargas, and Secretary for Public Relations Genesis Velasco were in command of the outreach program. Even with the difficulty of the journey, the team reached Legab Elementary School and Legab Child Development Center to bring joy and support to the wonderful pupils of this place. The outreach program benefitted the 57 children who were all provided with the supplies necessary for education and improvement of their health and hygiene.

School bags, education materials, mini plush toys, candies, and hygiene kits were among the donations that brought smiles to the children and their parents. For members of the SSC along with Project 360 Inc., seeing such enthusiastic and appreciative faces made the strenuous journey worth it.

Apart from supplying materials, the outreach program also helped the community’s cooperative endeavor since the children’s parents and guardians came to the event and offered their genuine gratitude. The participation of Project 360 Inc. and UB SSC served as a reminder of the needed collaborative effort to address the issues faced by these vulnerable groups.

The program indicates that the UB Supreme Student Council is active in educational service for its community. The efforts of the SSC and Project 360 Inc. significantly enriched the academic level of children in Legab by providing them with basic learning and personal care supplies.

This outreach program spotlights the need for students to work beyond the confines of the university to achieve constructive change. The UB SSC remains a role model to other people in the community through their advancement of leadership, compassion, and social service for the improvement of society.
