Pledging Integrity and Excellence: SCJPS Interns’ mark commitment to public safety

The School of Criminal Justice and Public Safety (SCJPS) at the University of Baguio held a momentous Open Collar and Donning Ceremony on January 21, 2025, at the FGB Hall, celebrating a pivotal milestone in the professional journey of its interns. The event, attended by SCJPS interns, faculty members, and agency personnel, symbolized the transition of students from academic learning to practical fieldwork, highlighting their dedication and readiness to serve the community.

The ceremony commenced with an inspiring keynote message delivered by Mr. Immanuel Jesus A. Fernandez, who emphasized the significance of this moment in the interns’ career paths. His words encouraged the interns to embrace their responsibilities with integrity and professionalism, reminding them of the impact they will make in their respective fields.

A symbolic Open Collar and Donning Ceremony followed, where agency personnel opened the collars of the interns and donned their loops, signifying their readiness to face real-world challenges and uphold the principles of justice and public safety. This solemn act marked their official transition into fieldwork, reinforcing their commitment to serve with honor and excellence.

In a powerful display of dedication, the Pledge of Forensic Science Interns was led by Carl Mavericks D. Dorupan, while Griffin Dale D. Gaston led the Pledge of Criminology Interns. These pledges highlighted the interns’ unwavering commitment to ethical practice, accuracy, and justice in their chosen fields. The atmosphere was filled with pride and determination as the interns vowed to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

Mhell Je-An A. Tictic delivered a heartfelt Speech of Acceptance on behalf of the interns, expressing deep gratitude for the support and guidance received from mentors, faculty, and agency partners. She emphasized the importance of perseverance, teamwork, and ethical conduct, inspiring her peers to face the challenges ahead with courage and determination.

To recognize the invaluable contributions of the agency personnel who played a pivotal role in guiding and supporting the interns, Certificates of Appreciation were awarded, symbolizing the strong partnership between the university and its community partners.

The ceremony was capped off with a memorable Group Photo Opportunity, capturing the unity and pride shared by the interns, faculty, and agency personnel. The event concluded with a dignified Exit of Colors, symbolizing honor, respect, and the collective commitment to justice and public safety.

The Open Collar and Donning Ceremony was not just a symbolic event; it was a powerful affirmation of the interns’ readiness to step into their roles as future public safety professionals.
