Send-off Mass for Medical Technologist Board Takers: A Journey of Faith and Service

Written by Kurt Ivan Uno Mendoza

On March 21, 2025, the University of Baguio community united in faith and solidarity during the special Send-Off Mass for the 148 aspiring Medical Technologists, who will be taking their licensure examination on March 26-27, 2025. Held at the FGB Hall and presided over by Rev. Fr.  Berlynden B. Dao-anis, the Mass was a moment of solemn prayer, encouragement, and reflection as the board takers prepared to take a step towards a new milestone in their journey.

In his homily, Fr. Dao-anis cautioned people taking the exam that this moment is not only a test of knowledge but a stepping stone to a greater calling. He prayed that they would examine themselves and consider how far they had come, what they had grown into, and why they had made the choices that had led them to who they had become. Life becomes a process of serving others, making a difference, he noted, saying this is never truer than in the field of health care, in which devotion and care are some of the most important skills, along with the technical aspects.

The send-off mass was held during Lent, and he also encouraged the board takers to pray to find strength, guiding them not just to desire success but also to grow closer to God through this period. Prayer, he reminded them, is not simply a request, but one of the ways to experience spiritual growth, to find peace in the midst of uncertainty, and to trust in the divine plan being revealed in every challenge encountered.

The University of Baguio will always strive to produce professionals who are not only academically adept but are also men and women of integrity and service. As the boarders exit this event, they leave behind the steadfast assistance of their mentors, parents, and friends, as well as the favor of a community that has faith in their potential.

After waiting long years, these future Registered Medical Technologists are undoubtedly prepared to conquer the challenge ahead of them with gospel faith, perseverance, and the wisdom  they have acquired. May they step through the door of their tests emboldened with the knowledge that wisdom, strength, and purpose will guide them.

Good luck and God bless, future RMTs!
