The University of Baguio Psychology interns deployed for their Industrial and Organizational Psychology exposure at the 122nd Naval Support Combat Squadron Reserve of the Philippine Navy participated in this year’s Basic Citizen Military Course (BCMC) on March 16, 2025, at the CAP Convention Center, Camp John Hay.

The interns engaged in the recruitment cycle as facilitators for group dynamics activities for the 1st to 5th waves of applicants. They focused on an activity designed to promote rapport, camaraderie, and open social interaction. Additionally, they gained hands-on experience by scoring psychological tests for the 6th wave applicants under the supervision of two reservists. This immersive experience enhanced their practical skills aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 4 for Quality Education. By applying psychological principles in real-world situations, UB’s Psychology interns contribute to this goal by developing skills relevant to their future careers. These skills include understanding organizational behavior, facilitating effective group interactions, and assessing individual competencies—skills that are essential for fostering a more educated and productive workforce.

Last year, UB’s Department of Psychology also participated in the BCMC held on November 24 at the William Cameron Forbes Ballroom, Baguio Country Club. Third-year students administered the psychological tests for applicants, while fourth-year students facilitated the group dynamics activity. These initiatives demonstrate UB’s commitment to bridging academic learning with real-world applications.
