Baguio City—In an exclusive block screening of Captain America: Brave New World on February 22, 2025, held at SM Cinema Baguio, students, and student leaders from different universities in Baguio came together as guests of Globe. This is part of Globe’s Community Builders’ Program to create and empower emerging leaders through internships, academic mentorship, and joint endeavors.

The newest member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Captain America: Brave New World, hit theaters on February 12, 2025. The movie marks Anthony Mackie’s first time playing the new Captain America, a continuation of Sam Wilson’s character in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The film also features Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross, who gets a dramatic transformation into the Red Hulk.

The storyline involves Sam Wilson as he faces a global crisis around President Ross’s mutation, thus creating a political thriller of great stakes. Based on legacy, teamwork, and family, the film explores Sam’s determination to continue Steve Rogers’ legacy by overcoming the challenges of unifying a broken Avengers team.

Student leaders and student organizations of the University of Baguio (UB), such as the Supreme Student Council (SSC), the Student Legislative Council (SLC), and members of the School of Nursing’s (SON) Student Body (SB), joined the activity to highlight the importance of leadership in academic and co-curricular activities, in line with Globe’s vision of cultivating student-initiated programs.

They had fun in interactive activities such as a souvenir photo wall, games with wonderful prizes, and special Globe freebies.

The activity provided students not just a time to unwind and to see a blockbuster hit film but even turned into an opportunity to improve teamwork and leadership skills among students of Baguio. Additionally, student leaders were able to pitch some of their future projects for Globe to provide support. Captain America: Brave New World continues to be a hit in the movies worldwide.
