The International Robolution: Robotics & Automation Competition 2024, hosted by Erovoutika in collaboration with the University of Makati, brought together the nation’s brightest innovators for a prestigious competition that pushed the frontiers of robotics, engineering, and creativity. Amidst the thrilling matches and outstanding technical displays, the University of Baguio (UB) emerged as a standout, securing the coveted Overall 1st Runner-Up title. Representing the UB School of Information Technology, the teams showcased exceptional talent and innovation in robotics and automation. Held on December 6-7, 2024, the event celebrated UB’s remarkable ingenuity and excellence in robotics and automation. UB’s stellar performance not only highlighted their technical prowess but also solidified their status as trailblazers in the field, gaining recognition on the national stage.

Two of the five exceptional teams from the University of Baguio showcased their brilliance and technical expertise at the International Robolution 2024, earning prestigious awards that highlighted their mastery of robotics and innovation. These remarkable achievements, guided by their dedicated mentor and teacher, Sir Julius Caesar Monico, have not only brought pride to their institution but also solidified UB’s position as a leader in the field of robotics and automation on the national stage.
Team Lady’s Choice, composed of Raian Geronimo Garcia, Arden James Villaruel, and Geosemay Osalbo, secured the coveted Champion title in the Mobile Controlled E-Robot category. Under the mentorship of Sir Julius Caesar Monico, their cutting-edge design and seamless execution of a mobile-controlled robot impressed judges and spectators alike, earning them the top honor in one of the competition’s most challenging categories.
Reflecting on the challenges they faced, Mr. Raian Garcia shared, “The main challenge we encountered was the competition from other teams, especially since some of them were younger and had stronger coding skills.”

Team LCJ Roborangers, represented by Ron Leo Manangan, Christian Russel Castelltort, and Raphael James Carulla, displayed exceptional versatility and resilience, excelling in two categories. They achieved the 2nd Runner-Up position in the E-Robot V2 (PID Line-Following Robot) category, where precision and programming skills were critical. Additionally, they secured another 2nd Runner-Up award in the Erovouthon (6-hour coding challenge) with their innovative project, Safemine: Automated Hazardous Material Handling for Safer Mining. This project, also developed under the expert guidance of Sir Monico, highlighted their ability to combine technical ingenuity with practical applications to address real-world challenges in the mining industry.

These victories reflect the University of Baguio’s unwavering commitment to fostering innovation, critical thinking, and excellence among its students. Both teams, along with their esteemed mentor, have now earned the distinguished honor of representing the Philippines in the upcoming international robotics & automation competition in Romania, scheduled for May 2025. This opportunity not only validates their hard work and dedication but also serves as a platform to showcase Filipino talent and ingenuity on a global scale.
As they prepare for this prestigious event, these UB teams, with the continued support and mentorship of Sir Julius Caesar Monico, carry the hopes and encouragement of their university, community, and nation. Their success at the International Robolution 2024 is a testament to their passion for innovation, their technical excellence, and their determination to leave a lasting mark in the field of robotics and automation.
